Circular Economy Approach: Hazardous Waste

A circular economy approach to hazardous waste focuses on minimizing waste generation, reducing the environmental impact of hazardous materials, and promoting sustainability by reusing and recycling hazardous substances. A circular economy seeks to extend the lifecycle of products and materials by integrating waste management solutions that reduce pollution and recover valuable resources. By applying circular economy principles, industries can reduce the environmental impact of hazardous waste, conserve resources, and promote sustainable practices across the value chain.
Lithium Ion Batteries: Technology With Both Risk and Reward

Learn about the history, chemical composition, comparison of Lithium vs standard batteries, charge and capacity, battery testing ratings RL vs UL, storage and handling of both damaged and undamaged batteries for both private and commercial applications, fire prevention, fire extinguishing, thermal runaway events, transportation and storage of damaged EVs.
A Primer On Waste Characterization
Kerry Puzio, CHMM, Director of Regulatory Services, Taplin Group
The presentation will be looking at the in's and out's of Hazardous Waste and Liquid Industrial By-Product classification. Delving into all the different Hazardous Waste codes.
EGLE Division Update
We will also be joined by Wade O’Boyle, EGLE's Grand Rapids District Liquid Industrial By-products (LIB) and Hazardous Waste Inspector, for a division update including e-manifest changes. In addition, EGLE field inspectors and technical specialists will be on-site to answer any questions throughout the workshop, and there will be time for networking and exhibitor interaction during arrival, breaks, and lunch.
Presentations begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a networking luncheon at noon with the balance of presentations following.

Exhibiting Opportunity
The fee for 2025 WM-AWMA Corporate Sponsors to exhibit is $250, non-chapter sponsors are $400. Each exhibitor will receive one eight-foot, skirted table and two chairs. Complimentary entry to the workshop and food are provided for one individual. Additional attendees are asked to register at the regular registration rates.
