Mapping Our Democracy: Understanding Redistricting and Representation

A Legislative Advocacy Workshop

The Winston-Salem Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, in partnership with the Winston-Salem Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., invites community members, families, and students to join us for an engaging and informative Legislative Advocacy Workshop titled “Mapping Our Democracy: Understanding Redistricting and Representation.”

Redistricting plays a critical role in shaping how our communities are represented at the local, state, and national levels. Yet many citizens are unfamiliar with how district lines are drawn, why they matter, and how they impact voting power, representation, and public policy.

This interactive workshop is designed to help participants better understand the redistricting process and its importance in our democratic system. Through discussion and education, attendees will gain insight into how legislative maps influence representation and how informed citizens can advocate for fair and equitable districts.

Whether you are a student learning about civic engagement, a parent interested in strengthening your understanding of the democratic process, or a community member who wants to stay informed and involved, this workshop offers an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and connect with others who care about strengthening our democracy.
