Mapping Access in the Waverley Community
About this Event
Every great day out starts with a little planning 🥳. For wheelchair users, that can mean anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour of research, if access info exists at all.
WheelEasy is here to change that - & this MAPPING DAY OUT is how we do it together.
Join us in Waverley for a community day where locals, wheelchair users, carers, advocates, social workers, students, and anyone who cares about inclusion, come together to share what they know about their neighbourhood. Knowledge that no algorithm can match, and that makes a real difference to real people planning their next outing.
Think of it as a neighbourhood adventure with a purpose: exploring your local area, spotting the ramps, the curb cuts, the accessible entrances, the toilets that actually work, etc. Every detail you find goes straight onto our map www.wheeleasy.org — and just like that, someone else’s hour-long access research project becomes a two-minute check before they roll out the door.
Come explore, connect, and help build something that lasts. Good vibes, great company, and work that genuinely matters. No experience needed. Everyone is welcome.
On the day you can expect:
• A warm welcome, coffee, and a briefing at our meeting point in at Waverley Council.
• Hands-on training on how to use the WheelEasy app to add and verify listings about access.
• A guided local activity exploring local cafés, parks, shops, public spaces, etc…
• Real conversations with people who get it — wheelchair users, carers, locals, students, and advocates all in the same room
