Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of our special exhibition, Woven in Wool: Resilience in Coast Salish Weaving.
Not only is Woven in in Wool the the first exhibit developed in-house in the “new” Burke Museum building, this exhibit represents a tremendous feat of collaborative and ethical curation methodology that reflects the Burke’s values in prioritizing relationships with Indigenous partners and respecting artists as experts on their own cultural practices. Join us and listen to the stories of the "many hands" that contributed to Woven in Wool from the earliest ideas to the ceremonious opening in September 2025.
This special program will feature a robust panel discussion with co-curators and board members of the Coast Salish Wool Weaving Center (CSWWC), Chepximiya Siyam Chief Dr. Janice George, sa’hLa mitSa Dr. Susan Pavel, Skwetsimltexw Willard “Buddy” Joseph, SiSeeNaxAlt Gail White Eagle, Haʔməkʷitən Kelly Sullivan, teeweewas Tillie Jones, plus Burke Exhibit Developer Rowe Redick, moderated by Woven in Wool Burke curator Katie Bunn-Marcuse. After a panel presentation, the program will open for audience Q&A.
Door open at 6 p.m. Program to begin at 6:30 p.m. Light buffet and refreshments provided by Off the Rez.
The Woven in Wool gallery will be open during the run of the program from 6–9 p.m.
