Manioro is a 2-day event, where Māori, Pasifika and Rainbow communities (*MVPFAFF, LGBTQIA+ & Takatāpui) come together to see how creativity can be used to disrupt toxic narratives and challenge harmful stereotypes.

?Friday 30 September
5:30pm - 9pm
- Live Music & Entertainment
- Premiere of Queer Indigenous documentary which showcases the lives of Five people who identify as LGBTQI+ and are Māori/Pasifika.
- Open Mic where we invite you to register and have the opportunity to express yourself through music, dance, poetry
- Q&A Panel on Coming out & navigating being Queer & Māori/Pasifika
-Come listen to indigenous, inspirational speakers such as Phylesha Brown-Acton MNZM, Executive director of F'INE Pasifika. Paris Brown, a beautiful whakawahine (transgender) from Hawkes Bay.
- FREE Light kai

10am - 2pm WĀNANGA - Creative Workshops. You can choose to attend two workshops.
- Poetry & Spoken word facilitated by the Master Creative - Michelle Fatani
-Music & Vocal Activation - Joydah Mae an indigenous, inspirational musician & vocalist
- Visual Story Telling with Queer Creative Bel aka Miss B Creates (Photography & Videography)
- A workshop for Parents, Teachers, Community/Church/School leaders/ Allies

4pm - 7pm
- Shaneel Lal, founder of the Conversion Therapy group will be our keynote speaker
- Ahakoa Te Aha, a Takatāpui Kapahaka group will waiata tautoko their kaiako Jade
- Showcase of workshop learnings

- Rainbow services & organisations
Manioro is a Takatāpui/LGBTQIA+ event that was originally set to be delivered during PRIDE 2022 but was postponed due to COVID.
*MVPFAFF is an acronym to describe Pasifika gender identities; Mahu (Hawai’i and Tahiti), Vaka sa
lewa lewa (Fiji), Palopa (Papua New Guinea) Fa’afafine (Samoa) Akava’ine
(Rarotonga), Fakaleiti (Tonga), Fakafifine (Niue).
