MANIC: a comedy cabaret musical
About this Event
Roxana Baldovin presents MANIC: a comedy cabaret musical!
After runs at Hollywood and Edinburgh Fringe, award-winning director Roxana Baldovin brings her wildly original one-woman comedy cabaret musical MANIC to Pure Heart for One Night Only November 14th!
If Inside Out, Clueless and SNL had a baby, it might look something like MANIC. A cinematic blend of theatre, sketch comedy, cabaret and live performance, MANIC follows a first-generation American “destined” for fame as she battles the loudest voices in her life - her insecurities personified as a larger-than-life drag queen, her immigrant family, her childhood self, and the impossible expectations she's placed on happiness.
Through rapid-fire character transformations, parody songs, filmed comedy sketches, and razor-sharp storytelling, MANIC explores what happens when your biggest obstacle isn't the entertainment industry - it's your own mind. Baldovin explores the beautiful chaos of ambition, identity, ADHD, and what it really means to "make it."
At once hilarious and unexpectedly moving, MANIC is a love letter to dreamers, doers, millennials, kids of immigrants and anyone who's ever wondered whether they're chasing success—or being chased by it. Written + produced by an independent artist, your support means the world!
