Film lovers in Ludington, Mich. will join over 100,000 film enthusiasts around the world during as the 27th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT film festival screens at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA).
The MANHATTAN SHORT film festival features 10 films and screen simultaneously across the world during a one-week period, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue. By virtue of their selection by MANHATTAN SHORT, each short film is automatically Oscar-qualified.
LACA will host screenings Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11:30 a.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.; and Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. This year’s MANHATTAN SHORT is approximately 2 hours and 36 minutes long (which includes a 8 minute intermission). The 2024 MANHATTAN SHORT finalists hail from nine countries with films from the United Kingdon, France, the Netherlands, Australia, Ukraine, Croatia, Italy Ireland and two films from the USA.

Which of these Final Ten short films is the best? That's up to a worldwide audience to decide. Cinema-goers across the United States and around the globe will become instant film critics as they are handed a ballot upon entry that allows them to vote for the Best Film and Actor. MANHATTAN SHORT is the ultimate audience award that salutes the creative talents of both directors behind the camera and actors in front of it. Votes will be sent through to MANHATTAN SHORT HQ with the winner announced at ManhattanShort.com on Monday Oct 7, at 10 a.m. EST.
The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is a 501c3 Not for Profit that strives to foster a community where arts and culture bring us together, feed the creative spirit, and fuel community growth. Located at 107 S. Harrison St. in downtown Ludington, Mich. The art center is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. LACA offers monthly exhibits, with first Friday of the month opening receptions; and a wide assortment performances and workshops. Art Shop 107 by LACA serves as the art center’s gift shop and features amazing original artwork from LACA members, perfect for gifts or home décor.
