About this Event

Looking to learn about South Bay’s ever so popular Manhattan Beach. It’s a name we all hear yet don’t often come around to go visiting. Join us on an afternoon as we indulge in local cuisine there, learn its history and enjoy some specialty gelato.

Manhattan Beach is popular for its clean and sandy beaches. It annually attracts over 3.8 million tourists. The bikeway of Manhattan Beach extends to Santa Monica and south to Palos Verdes

(CNNMoney named Manhattan Beach #1 as the "2011 Best Places For the Rich and Single)

The sandy coastal landscape at the time was inhabited by the Tongva tribe of Native Americans, which is now Manhattan Beach.

It is said that a portion of current day Manhattan Beach possibly may have been used as Native American burial grounds.

George H. Peck owned a lot of the land that became part of the north section of Manhattan Beach. A coin flip decided the town's name. Around 1902, the beach suburb was named.

We will begin our afternoon meeting outside The Rock N’ Fish Restaurant, which has several eateries around it. We will quickly go over all the eateries in close vicinity. We will all take our food picks, then gather back together, eat at the beach, walk through the beach and pier, exploring its history and then conclude our tour at Gelato & Angels.
