Mandela Day Walk 2026

MEETING POINT: Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre, 4 Princes Rd, Liverpool L8 1TH
Mandela8 invites you to join founding members and supporters in celebrating Mandela Day with a guided walk along Princes Avenue and Boulevard, to Princes Park and the Mandela Memorial on the park lake's island.
With a special emphasis on the experiences of the Toxteth community, the walk guide will provide a series of links to online videos, podcasts and websites that enable you to gain a deeper comprehension of the history, heritage and culture of the area and the people who have settled there.
The walks will be guided by Robert Awork Jr. who is a lifelong inhabitant of L8 and also a witness to the uprisings of 1981 in Toxteth. His working life has been focused on activism in the areas of arts, culture, youth work and community development.
Tickets are FREE! Early booking is advised.
The walk will start at 4.00 pm on Saturday 18th July 2026.
The walk is a distance of approx 1 mile, and will last approx 1 hour hour (this will be a special '67 Minutes' version of our walk for Mandela Day)
Wheelchair access is good along the whole route.
