Docs Ireland wanted to celebrate and recognise the immense contribution Manchán made to Irish culture, Irish language, Irish life. We will screen his last documentary, Listen to the Land Speak, made whilst he knew of his diagnosis.
Manchán Magan was an author, traveller, broadcaster and documentary maker. In August 2025, Manchán was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of neuroendocrine prostate cancer. He departed, imithe ar shlí na fírinne, on October 2nd 2025.
Manchan’s great collaborator, and brother, Ruán Magan, will be joined by director Maurice O’Brien for a special discussion on Manchan’s work, hosted by writer Kerri ní Dochartaigh.
