Manchester Translation Series 2027

“If we removed all translated works from a library, would we still have a library? Translation does not just bring important works into a language; it changes language and literature.”
– Dr Brian Sneeden
Join us for the fifth annual Manchester Translation Series – our annual celebration of translated poetry, bringing together international poets, translators and publishers in Manchester.

Founded in 2022 by Dr Brian Sneeden, the series explores the ways translation transforms poetry, language and literature. Through readings, conversations, panels and workshops, it considers translation not simply as a way of bringing literature into another language, but as a creative practice that changes how languages and literatures encounter one another.

The event will run from 11 - 5pm on each day of the festival, with an evening event on the Thursday from 6 - 8pm.
