About this Event
Left Book Club is a not-for-profit book subscription featuring some of the best radical writing published as collectible editions. Each month the Manchester reading group meets up to discuss a book that explores anticapitalist or progressive ideas and how we might relate them to our own lives now.
In April we'll be reading by W.E.B. Du Bois. The book is a collection of essays, and so I've selected a few that might be a good place for people to start:
- "Introduction" to the Left Book Club edition by Brent Hayes Edwards (pg. vii - xxiii)
- "Of our spiritual strivings" (pg. 7 - 14)
- "Of the dawn of freedom" (pg. 15 - 32)
- "Of the coming of John" (pg. 153 - 166)
Please don't worry if you don't have a chance to get through the above (or even any of the above!), we try to keep our discussions high level and addressing common themes.
Tickets are free but do RSVP so the museum can work out how many people are coming.
