About this Event
Broadening Perspectives: Innovative Approaches to Interdisciplinary Research` is Manchester Metropolitan's 15th annual PGR conference, organized by a volunteer committee of PGR students and sponsored by the Graduate School. This is the first fully hybrid event at MMU, combining in-person presentations (Oral, and Poster Presentations, Performance, Object-based presentation) with online contributions giving both participants and attendees a wide spectrum of choices.
Our themes this year include but are not limited to:
BEYOND THOERY: INNOVATIVE PRACTICE
Considering a practice-based approach to interdisciplinary research, fieldwork, public-facing methods and research presented in non-written formats. We are keen to challenge the conventions of research practice.
PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE WELL-BEING
An inclusive subtheme that explores how interdisciplinary research can promote further understandings of sustainability, well-being, conflict, climate and ethics.
INTERDISCIPLINARY CONVERSATIONS AND COLLABORATIVE IDEAS
An opportunity to showcase work undertaken in a collaborative format, perhaps through participatory research, collaborative doctoral partnerships or placements.
As for our keynote speakers, we have invited an outstanding trio of varied academic backgrounds who will further enrich our project:
Prof Salhi Zahia: Professor of Modern Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from Manchester University
Dr Martin Turner: A Reader, and Psychology practitioner from Manchester Met University.
Dr Lexi Webster: A Deputy Director of Digital Humanities from Southampton University.
We welcome everyone, and we are looking forward to having you with us.
