A Matthew Halsall által alapított brit Gondwana a 2010-es évek egyik legfontosabb jazz kiadója, amely az alapító trombitás mellett olyan - Budapesten is megfordult - előadókat adott a világnak, mint a Portico Quartet, Hania Rani, a GoGo Penguin, a Svaneborg Kardyb, vagy a Magyarországon most debütáló, amúgy 2014 óta már ötödik albumánál tartó Mammal Hands. A spirituális, ECM-es, nu-jazzes trió táncosabb mellékprojektje, a Sunda Arc is népszerű, de a főformáció minimalizmussal is flörtölő, békés, felemelő hangzásvilága - és hipnotikus hatású koncertjei - révén meghatározó szereplője a kortárs jazznek.//
Founded by Matthew Halsall, British Gondwana Records became one of the most significant jazz labels of the 2010s. In addition to its trumpet-playing creator, the label has also brought the world - and Budapest - performers of the calibre of Portico Quartet, Hania Rani, GoGo Penguin and Svaneborg Kardyb, not to mention Mammal Hands, who have released five albums since 2014 and will now make their first ever appearance in Hungary. The spiritual, ECM-influenced nu-jazz trio also have a popular dance-based side project, Sunda Arc. However, it is the main group's peaceful, uplifting and often minimalist sound - as well as their hypnotic concerts - that have earned the performers a definitive role in the contemporary jazz scene.
