Join us for a classic movie on the big screen with newsreels, cartoons and other treats, plus an introduction with fun history by series curator, Ygal Kaufman.
This time it's the innovative noir thriller, Panic in the Streets (1950) starring Richard Widmark, Barbara Bel Geddes, Jack Palance, Zero Mostel and Paul Douglas, directed by Elia Kazan!
This innovative edge-of-your-seat thriller combines a suspenseful police chase film with a public health disaster for a potent mix of noir, thriller, action and suspense. When a dead body turns up infected with a highly contagious and deadly form of pneumonic plague, police and public health experts race to find the killers for both justice and the safety of the public.
In addition to Zero Mostel, this film has great Jewish pedigree across the crew. Produced by legendary Jewish producer Sol Siegel (Three Coins in the Fountain, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes), this film has a screenplay by Jewish noir specialist Daniel Fuchs (Hollow Triumph) with uncredited support by Philip Yordan. The music is by the great Alfred Newman.
This film will also feature newsreels and a great cartoon from 1950 to open the show! Join us for the next Maltz Movie Night! Get tickets at the link below before they sell out!
