Malawi Cross Party Group

Everyone is welcome to attend the AGM of the Scottish Parliament’s Malawi Cross Party Group:

• 6-7pm UK time (7-8pm Malawi time)
  
• Tuesday 6th October 2022
  

This is a hybrid meeting, taking place in the Fairfax Somerville Room, Committee Room 2, T4.40 of the Scottish Parliament, with a digital option for participation.

Attendees are asked to specify when booking a place whether they wish to attend digitally or in person.

We have two fantastic sets of speakers in this meeting:

• Neil Gray MSP, Scottish Government Minister for Culture, Europe and International Development, will address the meeting, sharing his priorities for the Scottish Government’s engagement and support of the Scotland-Malawi relationship. There will be time for Q&A.
  
• Prof Samson Kambalu, the leading Malawian artist and creator of Trafalgar Square fourth plinth statue ‘Antelope’, joined by his Scottish wife Susan, will address the CPG. Samson and Susan are longstanding friends of the Scotland Malawi Partnership.

The meeting will also include the Group’s formal AGM with the (re-)election of the following positions:

• Co-Convenors (currently held by Liam McArthur MSP, Alexander Stewart MSP and Alasdair Allan MSP)
  
• Co-Vice Convenors (currently held by Sarah Boyack MSP and Mark Ruskell MSP)
  
• Secretary (currently held by David Hope-Jones, CEO of the Scotland Malawi Partnership)
  

Please register if you wish to attend.

Those attending the meeting in-person will be able to view the ‘Ghost Antelope’ statue which is currently on display in the Scottish Parliament (sponsored by the SMP and Orbis Expeditions). Please arrive at the Parliament by 5.40pm, to ensure you have time to have cleared security and viewed the statue, before the meeting starts promptly at 6pm.
