Malas, Mantra, and Movement Workshop
About this Event
Make your own Mala to take home and learn about the power of Mantra in this one-day workshop.
A mala is a string of prayer beads used in meditation to count mantras, a practice known as japa. The mala acts as a tactile guide for counting mantras, allowing its user to focus more deeply on the meaning and the repeated sound vibrations of the mantra. Each strand is traditionally made up of 108 beads, may have a decorative tassel at the end, and can be made of a variety of materials, including gemstones, rudrakshas, bodhi seeds, or different woods.
A mantra is a set of words that is repeated silently or while chanting, and is a powerful psychic tool used to purify and strengthen the mind. It acts as a vehicle to aid the practitioner in transcending their normal thought patterns and recognizing and acknowledging the divinity within. Mantra can bring the practitioner to the experience of their higher consciousness.
