About this Event
From conversations across our community, we know that marketing yourself, your work or your projects is an area where many people feel they could use more practical skills and confidence. That might mean working out how to talk about who you are and what you do, choosing which platforms are worth using, reaching the right audiences, or knowing how best to promote a particular project alongside partners and venues.
But becoming visible isn’t only about how well we market ourselves. It is also shaped by the platforms we use, the algorithms that decide what gets surfaced, the networks we have access to, and the wider dynamics of who gets seen, heard and taken seriously. These systems can feel opaque, particularly when so much pressure is placed on individuals to continually promote themselves and their work.
Whether you’re looking to find new collaborators, build your profile, promote a project, or communicate your work more clearly, we want to create a space to workshop some of these challenges together and learn from what is working for others in the industry. We’ll look at both the practical side of making ourselves and our work more visible, and some of the bigger questions around the platforms and power structures that shape that visibility.
Join us for an honest conversation about marketing, visibility, platforms and power: what we can control, what we can’t, and how we might navigate it all in ways that feel useful and authentic to us.

The Pervasive Media Studio hosts a brilliant community of over 200 residents exploring creativity and technology. The Pervasive Media Studio is based within Watershed in Bristol, a cultural organisation championing engagement, imagination and ingenuity. We have an open-plan studio with a culture of generosity, curiosity and interruptability. We believe that by clustering together people from a broad range of backgrounds, with differing skills, experiences and opinions, all of our ideas get better.
