What does it take to bring a film to life from behind the camera? In this featured panel, New Jersey–born filmmaker Kevin McMullin offers an inside look at the director’s role in shaping a project from script to screen. Drawing from his experience directing national commercials and his feature Low Tide (released theatrically by A24), McMullin will share how he approaches storytelling, collaborates with cast and crew, and navigates the realities of production.
With a career that includes writing projects for Amazon and Sony, landing a script on the Black List (First Harvest), and current work adapting A Bittersweet Life for Netflix and scripting Bomb for 20th Century Studios (with Ridley Scott attached to direct), McMullin brings a wide-ranging perspective on today’s industry.
For filmmakers, this is a unique opportunity to hear directly from a working director about the creative and practical decisions that shape a film at every stage. Expect candid insights, lessons learned, and actionable advice on directing, career-building, and translating your vision into a finished film.
