(1987, US, English, 100m) dir Susan Seidelman, w/ John Malkovich, Ann Magnuson, Laurie Metcalf, Polly Bergen, Harsh Nayyar. An emotionally repressed scientist (Malkovich) builds his look-alike automaton Ulysses (Malkovich) to go forth and colonize outer space. Instead, his automaton falls in love with Frankie (Magnuson), the publicist hired to convince the people that this whole shebang is not profoundly dystopian. Antics ensue. This screening will be presented by Marya E.
