MAKING AS MEMORY, INHERITANCE, AND CONNECTION
About this Event
toastlab pop-up studio presents: MAKING AS MEMORY, INHERITANCE, AND CONNECTION
Centered on the experiences of women & matriarchal ancestries.
Printmaking • Laser Engraving • Embroidery • Collage
Participants are invited to bring objects or artifacts passed down through maternal lines - things like quilts, clothing, kitchen tools, or personal mementos, or bits and pieces of them - that can be altered and reimagined through the creative process. Don’t have an object or items? We’ll have plenty of materials on hand!
Together, we’ll reimagine these everyday items into personal artworks - threads in a continuing lineage of care and resilience. This project honors the quiet labor of women and invites stories to pass hand to hand, culminating in a living archive of shared making: a record of care, creativity, and connection, stitched from the fragments of everyday history.
