About this Event
Expand your pottery skills at Maker's Mondays by handbuilding a custom 10oz coffee mug. This 2-hour workshop is ideal for anyone interested in creating functional art with clay, whether you're a beginner or have previous experience.
You’ll start by rolling out clay slabs and using templates to cut out the pieces for your mug. Our instructor, Kat, will guide you through the process of attaching and joining the pieces, with a focus on crafting a comfortable handle and achieving smooth seams. Once assembled, you’ll have the opportunity to carve and decorate your mug, adding your personal touch.
Once your creations are complete we will handle all of the bisque and glaze firings. We will also glaze each piece with a glossy white glaze so the beautiful speckles of the brown clay show through. In about 3-4 weeks you’ll be emailed to pick up your finished pieces at Studio Sumi.
Supplies Needed: None! All tools and clay are provided for including an apron. Please feel free to bring any beverages as this event is BYOB.
To avoid additional fees on Eventbrite, we invite you to sign up for this workshop directly on our . Thank you :)
This workshop pairs perfectly with our previous session where participants created a coffee pour-over, allowing you to build a cohesive, handmade coffee set. However, this class stands on its own as a fun and rewarding way to create a unique mug for your morning brew or as a thoughtful gift.
