About this Event
Join experts, Avril Makula and Monica Oppen from the NSW Guild of Craft Bookbinders for a hands-on journal making workshop at the SMSA.
In this creative workshop you will make a multi-section journal, using a long-stitch binding.
This beautiful binding technique dates to the Middle Ages. Some of Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks were long-stitch bindings.
This stitched, non-adhesive binding process means no messy glue. Since interest in book arts has flourished in the last 20 years, the long-stitch binding has once again become a fashionable hand-made journal binding style.
You will leave this workshop with a beautiful hand-made journal to fill with your thoughts and a set of new skills to inspire your creative journey.
All materials supplied and included in the workshop fee.
The paper of the bookblock lined and the finished book oversize A5.
A selection of decorative papers will be provided to create an attractive and protective cover wrapper.
