Make Your Own Stool — A Recycled Plastic Workshop
About this Event
Join us for a hands-on workshop where plastic waste becomes designer furniture.
In our atelier at Josy Areal, you’ll learn how discarded plastics can be transformed into beautiful and functional objects — and create your own customized stool to take home.
Over the course of 3–4 hours, we’ll guide you through our recycling process, introduce you to the world of plastic materials, and share insights into the challenges and possibilities of circular design. Along the way, there will be plenty of room for questions, experimentation, and creativity.
Together, we will:
- learn about plastic waste and material recycling
- explore how colour and pattern behave when plastic is melted
- design unique surface compositions
- cut, spray-paint, and assemble metal stool legs
- melt recycled plastic into a finished seating surface
- assemble a fully functional stool from scratch
Each participant creates a completely unique piece. No two stools are ever the same.
The workshop is designed for everyone — no previous experience is needed. Whether you are interested in sustainability, design, craftsmanship, or simply want to try something new, this workshop offers a playful and inspiring introduction to making with recycled materials.
We work in small groups of 4–6 participants to allow for personal guidance and a relaxed atmosphere.
