Get ready to design and build your own handmade sketchbook or journal in this fun and hands-on 1.5-hour workshop for ages 8+! Students will learn the longstitch bookbinding technique to create a sturdy, personalized sketchbook using high-quality papers provided by the studio.
We’ll also explore a couple of quick and creative bookmaking methods—stick binding and slot-and-tab binding—so students leave with the skills to create multiple types of handmade books.
In This Class, Students Will:
Create a full-size sketchbook or journal using the longstitch bookbinding process
Learn fast bookmaking techniques, including:
Stick binding
Slot-and-tab binding
Experiment with stitching techniques using bookbinding needles and awls
Leave with a beautifully finished handmade sketchbook
Perfect for young artists, writers, and makers who love creating functional, one-of-a-kind projects from scratch. All materials are included—just bring your creativity!
Class will be begin on time but we suggest arriving 5 minutes early to check in and get the seat of your choice. We do provide aprons but please dress for mess. All materials for this class are provided by the Art Factory.
