Begin your first foray into bag making with this gorgeous everyday tote by Noodlehead. Made using oilskin, it is water resistant and has a zip top. The design incorporates a handy front pocket, as well as a divided interior pocket for keeping everything organised. Finished size is approx 26.5cm wide x 16.5cm deep x 29.5cm tall.
The pattern which is included in the price has instructions for making a backpack version which you can make at home.
You will learn:
How to create a lined bag with zip top
How to perfect your topstitching and make pockets
How to work best with webbing
Tips for sewing with oilskin

A commercial sewing pattern with instructions to create a tote which will be made in class and a backpack to make at home
What you need to bring:
0.6m of 7-10 oz waxed cotton for exterior
0.91m of 8-10 oz canvas for the lining
14" handbag zipper for top closure 1 and 1/4" wide
1.9m of 1" wide cotton webbing (please double if you want longer, shoulder straps)
14 and 16 sewing needles
Matching thread to your exterior fabric
A sewing kit including paper and fabric scissors, pins or quilting clips, a ruler, a rotary cutter and mat if you have one.
£100. This course is aimed at confident beginners/intermediate sewers
Class runs for 3 weeks, on Thurs 3rd, 17th and 24th Sept from 7pm - 9.30pm at Saint Wilfrids Community Centre, Coltsgate Hill, Ripon HG4 2AB.
