Enjoy a free outdoor music performance on the front lawn of the 1639 Whitfield House. Make Music Day Eve will take place 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, June 20th. Craig Edwards and Geoff Kaufman will perform sea chanteys and other sailor music. Their interpretation will focus on the Indigenous and African American influence on the music, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of crews on 19th-century sailing ships.Make Music Day is a free global celebration of music that takes place on June 21st every year, but the museum is celebrating one day early on Make Music Day Eve. Not only is June 20th the summer solstice (the longest day of the year), it’s also Father’s Day.
Bring your own chairs and blankets. A variety of food and refreshments will be available for purchase from onsite vendors D & S Hot Dogs & Catering and Sully's Good Humor Truck. There is no charge for attending the performance, entering the Visitor Center, or parking. The Whitfield House will be closed.
