Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is observed on the third Monday in January each year. It was established by Congress in 1994 as a national day of service to honor Dr. King's life and legacy. This day encourages individuals to engage in community service and reflects Dr. King's commitment to service and proactive citizenship as a means to address social issues and foster inclusive communities.
Our Service Project: The American Legion is our scout unit's charter organization and each year they have a tremendous amount of traffic on their property during the Strawberry Festival. We will be doing some grounds beautification work to help prepare the property. Work needed can consists of tree limb removal, rubbish removal, etc.
Afterwards, we will do some outdoor cooking over a fire.
