Make it with MoFA: Mokulito Lithography
About this Event
Inspired by “Friendly Arbitration,” on October 22, with two sessions running from 3:00 - 4:30PM & 5:30 - 7:00PM, we will be hosting Make it with MoFA: Mokulito Lithography.
Using a sheet of plywood, we will be making illustrations directly onto the wood surface using a variety of wax materials. We will be using wax-based pigments to draw our illustrations, come with an image in mind or get inspired by the work on display! We will then prepare the plate using gum arabic to get ready for the printing press. This material needs at least 24 hr to cure, so we will offer drop-in times the following Saturday to ink your plate and print multiples.
After waiting for our plate to cure, you are welcome to join us in the museum at any point on the following Saturday, October 24, between 12:00 and 3:00PM to ink up your plate and print as many editions as your heart desires! During this part of the workshop, we will explore the core principle of Lithography: that oil and water do not mix. Water will be used as a resist during the inking process.
This exhibition is on view at MoFA until Saturday, December 12, 2026. We will be hosting a lot of various printmaking workshops during the time this exhibition will be on display, so keep your eye out for them!
Pre-registration is required; the link is in our linkin.bio. Parking will be available in Call St Garage, and all materials will be provided.
