Make It Funky Crew is celebrating 20 years of bringing Beats, Breaks & Bass to Toronto with a special anniversary party featuring the legendary Fort Knox Five and rising UK producer Father Funk. It all comes full circle as Fort Knox Five, the act that launched the very first Make It Funky back in 2005 at the old 360 Club, return to the stage to mark two decades of unforgettable music, energy, and community.

Since its beginnings, Make It Funky has grown into Toronto’s premier breakbeat and bass party, uniting global talent with local innovators to create a movement rooted in funk, hip hop, breaks, and bass-heavy live grooves. This milestone event continues that tradition, blending nostalgia with fresh sounds and celebrating the scene’s evolution with an unstoppable lineup that promises to keep the dancefloor moving all night long.

FORT KNOX FIVE

Fort Knox Five formed in Washington, D.C. as a project to explore all things funky, regardless of genre or tempo. From the beginning, the vibe was retro, the sound was funk, and the beats were fresh. 20 years into it and FK5 are still going strong!

Combining live instrumentation with electronic music, Fort Knox Five create grooves that shift effortlessly from funk to house, reggae to glitch hop all the way through to prime time bangers helping to pioneer a modern funk revolution that have seen them touring and performing for nearly two decades alongside industry giants and icons.

In recent years Steve Raskin has taken over as the principle DJ for the group and now leads the charge of the Fort Knox brigade on the road into the funky future. He tours their signature brand of glitched out funk with high energy sets in any setting from world famous clubs to some of the largest festivals across the globe, rocking the parties with infectious grooves that effortlessly move from funk, bass, and hip hop to prime time house and breaks.

FATHER FUNK

Renowned for his high-energy DJ sets and electrifying original productions, Father Funk has carved out a reputation as one of the most dynamic forces in modern electronic music. Blending Funk, Hip Hop, and Disco with everything from Dubstep to Drum & Bass, his genre-bending, party-rocking style has earned him a loyal global following. Known for his notorious bootlegs and instantly recognizable productions, he delivers performances with thunderous energy and a mischievous grin, captivating audiences and solidifying his place as a festival favourite. His rise through the global bass funk scene has taken him to world-renowned stages, including Glastonbury (UK), Shambhala (CAN), Boomtown (UK), and Rainbow Serpent (AUS).

Never one to stand still, Father Funk continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of his sound while staying true to his funky roots. His extensive discography showcases collaborations across a wide spectrum of artists, from dubstep heavyweights like Boogie T, Dirt Monkey, and SubDocta, to funk-focused acts such as SoDown, The Floozies, The Sponges, and Slynk. Following a successful debut US tour with The Floozies, he has a string of exciting releases and collaborations lined up, setting the stage for 2025 to be the biggest and most defining year of his career.

Over the past 20 years Make it Funky has brought together cutting-edge DJ & live line-ups for an inclusive, positive, fun vibe. Make it Funky's mission has always been hell-bent on bringing the best of funk, breaks, hip hop, and beat-driven live music to the masses. Just a few of Make It Funky's many highlights over the past 10 years include sold-out shows with DubFX, Beardyman, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Z-Trip, Breakestra, Krafty Kuts, A.Skillz, Lee Fields & The Expressions, The Herbaliser, Fort Knox Five, Mat the Alien, DJ NuMark (of Jurrasic 5), Ursula 1000, DJ Swamp (Beck's DJ), Tittsworth and DJ QBert and so many more...
