About this Event

Make It a Show: Creative Producing for Improv | Workshop

Presented by Daniel Kirkby - Second Beat Productions(Meanjin/Brisbane) as part of the Brisbane Improv Festival 2026.

This practical workshop is all about creative producing for improv. The bit between “this could be fun” and “people bought tickets.” We’ll look at how to shape concepts, identify audiences, strengthen hooks, and give notes from a producer’s perspective that balance creative ambition with commercial reality.

You don’t need a finished idea, or even an idea at all. Just an interest in making improv that reaches beyond the same familiar circles.

Less spreadsheets. More making shows people actually want to see.

Workshop Length: 3 hours

Recommended experience level: Intermediate (1-3 years experience)

If people have an idea they want to workshop we will do that in third hour. But feel free to attend without a particular idea in mind.
