I am always fascinated by the Mexican artisans and their unique art throughout all of Mexico. Mexican “Tin” Folk art has a distinct look and various applications ranging from wall art to Christmas ornaments to Milagros or home décor.
For this November’s art workshop, we are utilizing heavy aluminum in place of tin, allowing us to complete the projects within the workshop’s time. The methods we use will still require each participant to decide on the kind of art they want to create, design patterns (or freehand it) Everyone will receive a large piece of aluminum that is roughly 30cm x 40cm. Each piece will need to be prepared prior to tracing and cutting the shapes and pushing decorative patterns into it. Once complete, participants can utilize various paints and other embellishments to paint your art. You may choose one larger piece of art, or multiple smaller pieces, according to your preference. With your end piece in mind, you may opt to create Christmas ornaments, wall hangings that can be framed, or mini art pieces that remind you (or a loved one) of a beloved pet. Keep these for yourself or gift these handmade art pieces to someone else.
NOTE: The photos used here are taken from the internet and are intended to illustrate the various outcomes of this kind of art.
Workshop space is limited, and first come, first served. All our workshops require prepayment of 650mxp to register. If you have any questions or would like to register, please send me (Cindi Williams) a Direct Message.
