Make & Take: Cabinet Building

Ages 14 to 17 requires a parent or guardian present during the class. Looking for that perfect, one-of-a-kind gift? Why not give the “Gift of Experience”? Our classes and workshops are the perfect “unique” alternative to a material gift or “stuff” for any occasion! In this two-part class, learn what's involved in building cabinets from start-to-finish, including box construction, face framing, drawers, doors, and hardware like hinges and knobs. The power tools you will be using include the router table, table saw, miter saw, and drum sander. We will demonstrate Rockler Jig's that will help you along the way. You’ll see the process firsthand because you will build your very own base cabinet! The first part will have you building the cabinet and mounting the face frame. Return the next day to build the door and drawer and mount them to the cabinet. Power tool woodworking experience is a required prerequisite. This is a weekend class, Saturday and Sunday. The first day is about 6.5 hours with a 30 minute lunch break and the second day is about 5 hours. The class is limited to 2 students so it FILLS UP FAST! All class participants receive a 15% discount on merchandise purchased in the store on the same day of their class. Exclusions apply. Students should come properly attired for a woodworking class (tight fitting clothing, long hair restrained and constrained from the face); and bring or wear provided industry standard hearing protection and safety glasses during equipment operation. All woodworking classes are held in a store that sells a wide variety of woods, including exotic woods such as cedar, aromatic cedar and other products (e.g., finishes, cleaners, etc.) that may cause allergic or other reactions in a small number of cases.
