Led by mosaicist Debra Collis, you'll create a mosaic that signposts a place you love in Camden Town.
About this Event

Debra Collis is a mosaicist who specialises in community projects, bringing imaginative visions to life in co-design processes that result in beautiful mosaics. This workshop is a chance to create your own 12 x 12 mosaic under the guidance of Debra.

Your task is to consider your favourite place in Camden Town - a hidden gem, a place you hold dear, or somewhere that represents your neighbourhood best - and design a mosaic icon of it as a piece of miniature wayfinding.
Your work is yours to keep, but will also feed in to the aesthetic of the Make an Entrance project - a set of public realm improvements being designed with local community members and Carver Haggard Architects. The designs from this workshop will help us build a picture of the places that are the beating heart of Camden Town, behind the visitor attractions, the real Camden Town. Your mosaics will make an abstract contribution to the colour schemes, icons and wayfinding strategy of the final installation of street furniture, green infrastructure, signage and lighting outside of Camden Town underground station.

Following the workshop you will have a tour of the Make an Entrance exhibition, learning about the project themes and the co-design work already underway. You'll also take part in a neighbourhood design game which encourages considering different perspectives when designing our urban spaces, and have a chance to feedback on the project designs.
