Make a trinket box - learn to collage while transforming a cigar box

In this workshop you will learn the basics of collage including sourcing images , scissors tricks and which glues to use.

At the end of this class you will have created a custom trinket box that you designed and created. Make it to keep or to give, either way with your creative touch it will be a a special piece.

All supplies and material are provided for this workshop. Everything you use in your creation (apart from the glue), will be upcycled. A perfect example of creating something beautiful through reuse.

About the educator: Brooke Levin is an Oakland artist who uses repurposed items from the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse to create new and interesting art. She is a founding artist of the Autumn Lights Festival, has done many pop-ups and her work has been featured at the Oakland Museum of California Gift Shop. Brooke was a City employee for 26 years, most recently the Director of Public Works, overseeing waste reduction and recycling and many other programs and services.

About Re:Studio: Re:Studio is a community creative space hosted by the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland. Workshops, classes, and other events on reuse, repair, and other elements of circularity are offered to the community on a sliding scale basis.

Sliding Scale: Based on household income

• $0 - $24,999 in household income pays 25% of cost
• $24,000 - $54,999 in household income pays 50% of cost
• $55,000 - $74,999 in household income pays 75% of cost
• $74,999 - $99,999 in household income 100%
• $100,000 - $154,999 in household income pays full price + 25%
• $155,000 - $199,999 in household income pays full price + 50%
• $200,000 - $499,999 in household income pays full price + 75%
• $500,000 + in household income pays full price + 100
