Make a Tote With Annika Keckhaver

In this workshop participants will be given both a pre-made mini purse as well as a paper handout with a detailed sewing description for making a simple larger purse. Participants will then have time and support in sewing the larger purse and decorating both purses. Sewing and printing techniques will be shown, and lots of fun materials will be provided! (Lace, buttons, beads, knick-knacks, etc.) This workshop is for those with at least a very basic knowledge of either hand or machine sewing - just the ability to sew a straight stitch.

***All materials including fabric will be provided!

About the Artist:

Annika Rae Keckhaver is an artist living and working in Chicago. Her work focuses on drawing and painting but uses fabric constantly, as a medium and as a subject. She has a passion for using materials that might otherwise go to waste or be seen as “trash.”

Experience Level:

Some basic sewing machine knowledge is good to have but not required!

What’s Provided:

• All Materials will be provided! If there is anything you would like to bring to add to your tote bag feel free to!
• You will go home with you one of a kind tote and the knowledge of how to make one yourself!

Getting There/Where to Park:

Humboldt - Free street parking is available on the street outside of The WasteShed, but spots may be limited so please plan accordingly. The Kimball bus stops right outside our doors! Please let us know if you need wheelchair access.
