Start with a thick wooden frame and multicolored pieces of tile and glass. Then, after making a quick sketch, add concrete and create a mosaic masterpiece!This special two-hour workshop gives children from five to seventeen the chance to make a real mosaic. Just like famous mosaics by artists like Gaudi, Chagall, and Sonia King (and like the incredible mosaics at the Pinellas Botanical Gardens across from the SparkGrounds facility), children will arrange small pieces of colored glass and ceramic tile in a mortar base.
Children will be provided with hands-on instruction, one SparkGrounds custom mosaic frame, and an unlimited amount of tile and mortar. No previous art experience is necessary, but children should be able to follow direction and enjoy art projects--like drawing, sketching, and painting.
