Make a Square for the Welcome Quilt Project. (No Experience Necessary)
About this Event
Join others in a meaningful evening of conversation around immigration, then decorate a quilt square. Your square becomes part of the , which joins squares into completed quilts that display in immigrant neighborhoods across the country. Under 18 welcome at the workshop, accompanied by an adult. The venue has a cash bar. Must be 21 or older to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Your suggested $10 donation includes:
- 1 blank quilt square per $10 donation
- Use of fabric markers to draw / write on your square
You are also welcome to bring your own materials to complete your quilt square on site.
Meet Your Workshop Facilitators
Helen Yuen believes in the power of the arts to bring about social change. She produces community artworks and events to bring us together with this focus in mind. Her latest work, a new release of the short filim "Wrecking /Renewal," is now on view at the Start-Spangled Flag House Museum as part of America 250 through Marylanders' Eyes.
The workshop is co-facilitated by museum educator Emily Conner, who brings to the learning space over a decade of experience leading arts learning, including work at The American Visionary Art Museum, Port Discovery, Charm City Cakes and the University of Wyoming Art Museum.
