Make a Mosaic Table! Class
About this Event
This class consists of (3) four hour sessions;
Saturday, August 29, 1:00-5:00 pm
Sunday, August 30, 1:00-5:00 pm
and
Monday, September 7 (Labor Day), 1:00-5:00 pm
The first day of class involves instruction on: cutting materials with hand tools (although designs can be created with no cutting if desired); an innovative method for figuring out how many tiles you need; how to layout and glue down your design; and finally, starting into actually gluing the design. The second day is all working on gluing down the design and you will need to complete your work by the end of that class or take home some homework. The third and final class involves grouting the mosaic tabletop and you will be able to take your mosaic home at the end of this class and use it within a few days.
The mosaic tabletops are made on small metal folding tables (approx. 19" diameter by 19" high) with your choice of base color; you can choose to make one for use outdoors & indoors, or indoor-only. "Mandala-type" designs are best for the length and level of this class; Swirls are very complicated and not appropriate for this class, but mandalas are very do-able. The class fee is $300, your table base is $25.00 and all the other materials and supplies are $30.00.
The sooner you register the better; class size is very limited and we need all registrations ahead of time so we can get the table bases ordered and prepped before the first class.
All class sessions are held at St. Paul's wonderful "Mosaic on a Stick", artist Lori Greene's studio spaces, mosaic supply shop, and classroom space in the Hamline/Midway area. You will be truly inspired by all of the incredible mosaic art on display; it is an incredibly fun, colorful, and inspiring space! Invite your friends, partners, parents, or kids (16 and over) and have an amazing time disconnecting and truly creating a fun and functional piece of art! You will gain skills that will allow you to continue to explore the fantastic medium of mosaics!
Krystie Rose Millich is an experienced mosaic artist and teacher who has taught thousands of students this amazing art form! She ejoys a lively, fun atmosphere with classes and always supports her student's process, supporting their efforts and mitigating their frustrations as they go. Krystie Rose lives in Colorado and Mexico and is greatly influenced by the colors and patterns and styles of Mexico, India, and a variety of other cultures. She has been a professional mosaic artist and teacher since 2009 , has received various mosaic art awards and distinctions, paricipated in local, regional, national, and international collaborative mosaic proojects, and donated to several progressive causes over time. Krystie Rose has public and commercial art pieces and installations located in Children's Hospital Colorado, Arapahoe Library District, Denver Library District, restaurants in Colorado and Mexico, and various outdoor public art programs. She is a longtime professional member of SAMA, the Society of American Mosaic Artists as well as CMA2, Contemporary Mosaic Arts, and is continually challenging herself to continue receiving training and furthering her skills and practice.
