Make a jewelry box - with the lasercutter

During the workshop you will first design your jewelry box in Fusion 360 on your own laptop and then cut and engrave it on the lasercutters in the Makerspace.

Registration

This is an event for ETH students and can host 8 participants. The amount of particpants is limited to give you personalized support. Please register only if you are sure you can come on the day and time indicated. If something happens and you cannot come, cancel your registration as soon as possible. Please do not cancel last minute!

Requirement: General introduction

Make sure that you have attended the General introduction of the Makerspace before comming to the workshop. General Introductions take place every Makerspace Open Hour at 16:30-17:00 and 18:30-19:00 (12:30 and 14:30 on Saturday), no prior sign-up is required.

Requirement: Lasercutter introduction

Make sure that you have attended the machine introduction and have recently used the Lasercutter at least once before comming to the workshop.

Preparation

Bring to the workshop:
- your laptop, charger and mouse,
- a personally selected image on a USB stick, to engrave on your box.

Before the workshop:
1. Download and install Fusion 360 on your laptop, it can be downloaded free if your register with your ETH email from: https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview.
2. Download and install the ‘DXF for Laser’ Fusion plugin: https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=7634902334100976871
3. Download and open this Fusion file: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JE1Y1P15XKQKsd3AIXhPEGInHyVilzGJ&usp=drive_fs. Just make sure you can open it, we will use it during the workshop.
