Makaton Level 1 Workshop (Southwark Schools Only)

This workshop is funded by Southwark Local Authority as part of the Cherry Garden Outreach, and is for staff working in Southwark primary schools or Nursery schools ONLY. The only cost is for the manuals (£25 per person).

Places are limited to one person per school. Please choose somebody who will be able to use Makaton every day in their work, and champion Makaton across the school.

This is a fun, interactive beginners Makaton workshop. It is a one day course that gives you everything you need to get started on your Makaton journey. The training is delivered by a qualified and experienced Makaton Tutor.

As well as learning to sign common functional vocabulary (Makaton Stages 1, and 2 and Additional vocabulary), we will discuss commonly asked questions, give hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use and learn how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work.

You will receive a Participant's Manuals which includes the Makaton symbols and signs that you learn in the workshop, as well as your Level 1 certificate.

On completion of the evaluation form from the Makaton website at the end of the course, The Makaton Charity will give you 30 days free access to the full Makaton website, including signs and symbols for all the Core Vocabulary and Resource Vocabulary, plus videos for thousands of signs.
