About this Event
Makadi
Makadi, is an independent American-Canadian artist epitomizing the avante garde outer bounds of R&B/Soul and the next generation of Black eclecticism. Born and raised in Boston, Makadi has been writing music since he was 15. Makadi confidently interweaves neo-soul, singer-songwriter, jazz, folk, and more to consistently push the envelope. Cinematic visuals, vivid storytelling, harmony and vulnerability are at the core of his genre-bending dialect.
His stylistic choices and genre-defying demeanor are reminiscent of other Black “monolith-disrupting” artists such as Moses Sumney, Frank Ocean, Sunni Colon, Gallant, Giveon, Childish Gambino and more. From two-time Boston NPR Tiny Desk finalist to opening for Burna Boy and Badbadnotgood, the Bostonian marvel has already been deemed an artist to watch.

The Chapel
Located in a recently restored heritage bulding (St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church), The Chapel is an intimate space perfect for happy hour, live music, poetry readings, and small gatherings.
On the corner of Nelson and Burrard, we're right in the heart of Downtown and the West End. Look for the glowing pink doors behind the 2/44 bus stop on Burrard St.
This fall we're hosting live music, pop-up, happy hours on select Fridays. Join us for wine, beer, and light snacks after work or before heading out for the night!
Doors open at 6:00pm, with live music starting at 6:30pm. Last call around 9pm.
This event is being held on the stolen, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. As we live and organize space as settlers on these lands, we have an obligation to continuously work to repair harms perpetrated upon Indigenous communities, presently and historically.
Oppressive attitudes and behaviour -- including but not limited to misogyny, transphobia, racism, fatphobia, cultural appropriation and ableism -- are not welcome here - this is a brave West End space.
