Majorica Meets Art

Majorica Miami is pleased to present MAJORICA MEETS ART, a collaborative initiative to exhibit local fine art. With an aim to strengthen its connection to the vibrant Miami arts scene and broaden its audience, Majorica has dedicated a section of its space for activating cultural experiences. The summer exhibition, on view June 29–September 7, 2024, will showcase artworks by Patricia L. Cooke and Luke Jenkins, curated by Miriam Kolker. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 29, from 5-8 PM at the Majorica store, located on Lincoln Road in the heart of Miami Beach.

The show brings together two emerging artists whose innovative uses of common materials exemplify a process-based approach to art-making. Cooke's Self-Referential series starts with maximalist fiber assemblages sourced from thrifted textiles and evolves into intricate laser-cut paper collages. Jenkins’ technical expertise as a furniture designer informs the construction of his carved reliefs, particularly lacquered plywood discs, injecting a sense of unknown between CNC router cuttings and the artist’s hand.

The creative processes of these two artists resonate deeply with Majorica's commitment to high-quality, original pieces crafted from sustainable materials. Majorica has stood as a beacon of innovation in the jewelry world for over a century, holding a relentless commitment to crafting pearls and jewelry pieces that stand the test of time. Since its humble beginnings in 1890, the brand pioneered the creation of organic pearls. From Mallorca to Miami Beach, Majorica is now extending its vision to include cultural experiences.
