Major League DJz, the trailblazing twin duo from South Africa, have been instrumental in the global rise of Amapiano, pioneering the genre's expansion beyond Africa and into the mainstream music scene. Known for their ability to innovate and push boundaries, they are now making a bold move into the electronic music space, blending their signature Amapiano sound with house and dance elements.
For the Major League DJz, this shift is not a departure, but an evolution. In South Africa, Amapiano has always been a subgenre of house music, played alongside electronic dance sounds. Recognizing the genre’s different interpretations globally, the duo has intentionally leaned into its electronic side, refining their approach by incorporating higher BPMs and strategically placing the log drum where traditional bass would be. This fusion allows them to maintain their Amapiano roots while expanding their sonic reach.
