Maja and Milena play mostly music of Eastern Europe, and Balkan traditional music. MM guitar duo has performed in the USA, Serbia, Macedonia and guitar festivals in the Balkan region of South Eastern Europe. They often play music by Voja Ivanović, Konstantin Vassiliev, D.Bogdanović, M.Tadić and arrangements of Balkan songs by Maja Radovanlija.
Maja Radovanlija, from Belgrade, Serbia, has been on the guitar faculty at the University of Minnesota since 2011. She is active as a collaborative artist, an improviser, and is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician with various ensembles, such as the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. www.majaradovanlija.net
Born in Prizren, Serbia, Milena Petković has performed in Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, and the US as a soloist and chamber musician, and has received several awards for classical guitar performance. Milena performs in various chamber ensembles, and has been a faculty member at the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music, St. Joseph’s School of Music, and Project Coordinator for ‘Guitar in Our Schools’ with the MN Guitar Society.
