Ready to learn one of the fastest-growing games in the country while supporting student scholarships?
Whether you've never played Mahjong before or you're looking to build confidence before the Columbia Gamecocks' annual Mahjong for Scholarships event, these instructional sessions are the perfect place to start.
Join us for a day of fun, learning, and community as experienced instructors teach the fundamentals of American Mahjong in a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment.
Session Options
Morning Beginner Instruction (10-12pm)
- Cost: $50 per person
- Learn the basics of American Mahjong
- Tile identification and setup
- Understanding the National Mahjong League card
- Charleston (tile passing)
- Basic gameplay and strategy
- Plenty of opportunities to ask questions
Afternoon Guided Play (2-4pm)
- Cost: $50 per person
- Put what you've learned into practice
- Play with instructor guidance
- Receive coaching throughout each hand
- Build confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment
- Perfect preparation for our annual Mahjong fundraiser
