Mahj and Meld

Do you play American Mahjong or Canasta? Join Bev and Emily, canasta and mahjong instructors of The Canasta and Mahjong Connection, for an afternoon of social play. We promise you'll be back in time for the Superbowl! We'll be in the bar area of the Riverbend Lounge at the Boston Marriott: Newton. Choose to play canasta or mahjong and we'll match you based on level and be available for supervised play. We will also have a mahjong learning table for anyone brand new to the game. Arrive at 1pm for play to begin promptly at 1:15pm. Grab food and drinks during play and enjoy some mahjong and canasta themed cocktails :)

We'll provide all supplies, just bring your 2025 NMJL card if mahjong is your game of choice.

Sign up on your own, with a friend, or your whole group! This is intended to be a great opportunity to play in a fun and inclusive, low-stakes environment. Tables will be designated by level, but specific seats will not be pre-assigned.

Emily and Bev are a mother-daughter duo and mahjong and canasta teachers in the Greater Boston area and on Cape Cod.

Photography/Videography Statement: We will be documenting this event with photo and video to share on our social media accounts, website and for marketing purposes. By signing up for this event you acknowledge that photographs will be taken and agree to be included in event pictures or video. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let us know in an email prior to the event.

Registration required to save a seat. Tickets are $25 per person. Food and drink available for purchase at the Marriott (not included in ticketing price). Mahjong learning table is $65 per person.

Refunds available until 1 week before the event. Refunds will not include eventbrite ticketing fee. If you are unable to attend but you have a friend who would like to attend in your place, they must be able to play at the same ticket level and you must send us a message with their contact info.

Info: Arrive and mingle at 1pm. Formal play begins at 1:15pm. Let's play mahjong and canasta! Food and drink will be available for purchase as you play. Games based on game and level (determined by your ticket type).
