Mahj 101! with Mahj Podge at The Golden Hoosier

What to expect:

We’ll guide you through everything you need to know, including a brief history of Mahjong and how American Mahjong evolved, an overview of the tiles and game components, and how to read the NMJL card using suits and blocks. You’ll learn how a game flows from start to finish, then jump into beginner-friendly guided gameplay with hands-on instructor support.

This is a relaxed, social experience designed to get you comfortable at the table while having fun along the way.

✨ Grab a friend (tables of four are ideal!) or come solo and we’ll match you with a great group.

Registration: Space may be limited, so advance registration is recommended.

Food & Drink: Available for purchase at the bar. Feel free to order downstairs and bring items upstairs to enjoy while you play.

Parking: A large lot is available across the street at 3636 S. Kingshighway (former Ackerman Toyota), along with a small lot behind The Golden Hoosier and nearby street parking.

Accessibility Note: The event space is located upstairs and requires use of stairs.
