? What is Maha Shivaratri (the 'Great Night of Shiva')?
Shiva is a deity in many Hindu subcultures. Predominantly he is known as a God that 'destroys' materiality or rather assists in its absorption back into the void of Pure Being, as well as Shiava traditions, the representation of Pure Being itself.
Each month, the empty moon is called a ‘shivaratri’, or 'night of Shiva'.
But once a year we celebrate the 'Maha' or 'great' night of Shiva. According to the Hindu calendar, the festival is observed on the fourteenth day of the dark half of the lunar month.
Thousands of yogis prepare for this night with fasting and prayers and pull an 'all nighter' to connect to the various forms of Shiva.
We affectionately call this day "Shiva's birthday" and this year Maha Shivratri will occur on Saturday, 9th March (between: 12:27 am – 8:47 pm).
To celebrate, we are dedicating our FREE Saturday morning meditation to this celebration which will be led by Ava.
? Saturday, 9th March: 8.30am - 9:10am
? All our welcome, no prior meditation experience necessary.
? Booking recommended
