Symphony Nova Scotia salutes the world’s most iconic composer! Mozart’s magnificent music comes to life in this blockbuster concert featuring two of his all-time greatest hits. First, hear the rich, expressive playing of pianist Andrew Armstrong in Mozart’s stunning final gift to the piano – the daring, transcendent, and deeply emotional Piano Concerto No. 27. Then, experience one of Mozart’s last works, and also one of his greatest – the dark, brooding Symphony no. 40.

Holly's Note:
Mozart’s music is so clean and refined, and for that reason I think he’s one historic composer that sits REALLY well alongside contemporary composers. I was delighted when our guest conductor for this, Andrei Feher, suggested Barbara Assiginaak’s piece Innenohr / Biinjii’ii Tawgaang (which is German for “inner ear / inside ear” – something we talk about a lot as musicians!) as an opener. It is perfect for this programme, and I think it completely transforms the way we hear Mozart after it. It’s like having the chance to see a painting you know really well set inside a completely different frame. There’s something a bit rock and roll about it!
